Description

The Cerebellar Cognitive Affective Syndrome can occur in a patient with a cerebellar disorder causing damage to the cognitive centers (hemispheres, ventral part of the dentate nucleus).


 

Patient selection: evidence of a cerebellar disorder

 

Features of the cerebellar cognitive affective syndrome:

(1) deficit in executive functions (attention, working memory, etc)

(2) visuospatial impairment

(3) a disorder of speech (slurred speech, impaired verbal fluency)

(4) blunted affect and other impairments of emotional modulation
