Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued criteria for when a patient should be screened for the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV),


Parameters:

(A) fever

(B) signs and symptoms of lower respiratory illness (cough or dyspnea)

(C) need for hospitalization

(D) epidemiologic risk

(D1) close contact with a laboratory-confirmed 2019-nCoV patient within 14 days of symptom onset

(D2) travel to Hubei Province, China, within 14 days of symptom onset

(D3) history of travel to mainland China within 14 days of symptom onset

 

A person should be evaluated for 2019-nCoV if one or more of the following patterns is seen:

(1) (A OR B) AND D1

(2) (A AND B) AND D2

(3) (A AND B AND C) AND D3
