Description

Exposure to yeast antigens can result in a hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP).


Yeast associated with hypersensitivity pneumonitis include:

(1) Candida species

(2) Geotrichum candidum

(3) Saccharomyces cerevisiae

(4) Saccharomonospora viridis

(5) Saccharopolyspora rectivirgula

(6) Torulopsis glabrata

(7) Trichosporon cutaneum

 

Syndromes associated yeast antigens include:

(1) humidifier lung

(2) farmer's lung

(3) footcare alveolitis

(4) Candida alveolitis

(5) indoor air alveolitis

(6) yeast powder alveolitis

(7) thatched roof lung

(8) mushroom worker's lung

(9) summer type HP

(10) wind instrument lung

 

Differential diagnosis:

(1) yeast pneumonia
