Exposure to a number of bacterial antigens can cause hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP).

Mycobacteria, nontuberculous

Phoma species

Pseudomonas species

Stenotrophomonas species

Staphylococcus species

Streptomyces species

Thermactinomyces species

Endotoxins from water sources (sprays, fountains, pools, etc)

 

Syndromes associated with exposure to bacterial antigens:

(1) machine operator's lung

(2) humidifier lung

(3) thatched roof disease

(4) bagassosis

(5) compost lung

(6) woodworker's lung

(7) detergent worker's alveolitis

(8) summer-type HP

(9) farmer's lung

(10) hot tub lung

(11) whirlpool alveolitis

(12) wind instrument alveolitis

(13) indoor air alveolitis

(14) steam-iron alveolitis, mushroom grower's lung

 

Differential diagnosis: pneumonias, include Legionnaire's disease
