The head may undergo abnormal movements, including nodding or tremors.
Causes of head nodding:
(1) head tremor (see below)
(2) bobble head doll syndrome
(3) congenital nystagmus
(4) extrapyramidal dysfunction (Parkinson's syndrome, other)
(5) habit spasm
(6) spasms nutans (an acquired form of nystagmus)
Causes of head tremor:
(1) benign tremor (essential senile tremor, postural, other)
(2) hereditary postural tremor (familial tremor)
(3) cerebellar disorder
