An orange colored urine is usually due to the presence of a medication.
Reasons for an orange-colored urine that has an alkaline pH:
(1) phenazopyridine (red with acid urine)
(2) Congo red
(3) phenindione
(4) sulfasalazine
Reasons for an orange to red colored urine:
(1) bile
(2) rifampin
(3) warfarin sodium
(4) ethoxazene
Porphyria may also cause an orange-colored or orange-red urine.
