Ergonul and Whitehouse reported the case definition of Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF).
Suspected case - both of the following:
(1) fever, myalgia, malaise and diarrhea
(2) one of the following:
(2a) residence in a CCHF endemic region
(2b) travel to a CCHF endemic region
NOTE: Since it can be spread as a nosocomial infection, contact with an infected patient can be added.
Probable case - both of the following:
(1) criteria for suspected case
(2) 2 or more of the following:
(2a) leukopenia
(2b) thrombocytopenia
(2c) elevated AST, ALT or LDH
Confirmed case - both of the following:
(1) criteria for suspected case
(2) evidence of CCHF virus with one or more of the following:
(2a) IgM antibody to CCHFV in serum
(2b) positive PCR for CCHFV in blood or body fluid
NOTE: The presence of either marker of CCHFV was added as a probable case if suspected criteria not met.
