The CARRS score can be used to evaluate a patient prior to heart transplantation. This can help to identify a patient at risk for reduced survival after the transplant. The authors are from Columbia University.
CARRS is an acronym for CVA, albumin, renal dysfunction, re-transplant, sternotomy.
Parameters:
(1) prior cerebral vascular accident (CVA)
(2) serum albumin in g/dL
(3) repeat heart transplantation
(4) renal dysfunction
(5) number of prior sternotomies
