Description

The aspirin converting factor (ACF) can be used to help estimate the equivalent dose of aspirin when a nonaspirin salicylate is ingested.

For a liquid formulation:

ACF =

= (molecular weight of aspirin in grams) / (molecular weight of compound in grams) * (specific gravity of the compound) * (density of water in grams per mL) =

= 180.16 / (molecular weight of compound in grams) * (specific gravity of the compound) * 0.9982

where:

• The specific gravity of water at room temperature (20°C or 68°F) is 0.9982.

• (specific gravity of the compound) * (density of water in grams per mL) = density of the compound in grams per mL
