Brachioradial pruritus (BRP) is a localized neuropathic dysesthesia of the upper extremity. It is classified as a neuropathic itch syndrome.
Location of pruritus: dorsal forearm and lateral aspect of the upper arm, often localized over the brachioradialis muscle
Clinical features:
(1) more common in middle-aged woman
(2) symptoms tend to be worse during warmer months and may be triggered by exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet light
(3) the patient may have a disorder of the cervical spine (cervical disc herniation, arthrosis, narrowing of C5-C6 foramina, etc)
(4) pruritus may be accompanied by tingling, burning and stinging
