One of the skeletal manifestations of Gaucher disease is bone crises.

Patient selection: Gaucher disease
Clinical features of a bone crisis:
(1) acute onset of severe skeletal pain
(2) fever
(3) leukocytosis
(4) elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) or C-reactive protein
(5) negative blood and bone cultures
Imaging findings:
(1) periosteal elevation on routine X-ray
(2) photopenia on radionuclide bone scan
(3) increased T2-weighted signal on MRI
