Description

A person may develop a blue tongue by a number of mechanisms.


Conditions associated with a blue tongue:

(1) cyanosis associated with cardiopulmonary disease

(2) oral ingestion of Rivotril (clonazapam)

(3) oral ingestion of a blue dye such as Prussian blue

(4) selective D2 dopamine antagonism (metoclopramide, haloperidol, risperidone)

(5) dietary intake (blueberries, blue food coloring, etc)
