Description

Ma et al reported the Beijing Longitudinal Study of Aging (BLSA) Leisure Time Physical Activity Questionnaire (PAQ) for evaluating older adults. The level of physical activity correlates with frailty, mortality and other outcomes. The authors are from Capital Medical University in Beijing.

Patient selection: Chinese adult >= 60 years of age

Physical activities:

(1) walking for exercise

(2) outdoor chores and gardening

(3) low intensity exercise

(4) moderate intensity exercise (running, golf, tennis, soccer, etc)

= SUM((activity weighting) * (frequency points)) =

= (frequency points for walking) + (frequency points for outdoor chores) + (2 * (frequency points for light exercise)) + (3 * (frequency points for moderate exercise))

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 21

• The higher the score the greater the level of physical activity.

• A low score is associated with poor outcomes.
