Description

Bakers are potentially at risk for occupational respiratory diseases.


Disorders:

(1) occupational asthma

(2) fungoma in immunocompromised bakers

(3) chronic allergic rhinitis

 

Allergens that may be involved include:

(1) wheat

(2) other flours

(3) eggs

(4) milk

(5) yeast

 

A baker with gluten sensitivity may have more inflammation than might be expected for a simple allergy.

 

Complications:

(1) pulmonary fibrosis
