Description

An adolescent athlete may have an avulsion fracture of the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) during strenuous exercise.


Clinical features:

(1) adolescent athlete prior to complete ossification of the pelvis

(2) sudden onset of hip pain associated with strenuous exercise

(3) may be preceded by a period of chronic pain consistent with apophysitis

(4) exclusion of alternative diagnoses
