Description

OSHA requires that workers certified in first aid be available in the event of injury. The number of certified workers depends on the work conditions.

Situations where all workers should be certified in first aid:

(1) hazardous work situation (diving, electrical generation, etc)

(2) a small work crew

(3) an immediate medical response is not reasonably accessible:

(3a) response to an emergency exceeds 3 or 4 minutes

(3b) no medical facility (infirmary, clinic, hospital) nearby

(3c) remote work site

If these conditions are not met, then not all workers need to be certified.
