Autonomic denervation dermatitis is an uncommon condition that may follow surgery or trauma. The skin changes reflect changes to autonomic nerves to overlying skin.
Synonyms: post-traumatic eczema, neuropathic dermatitis, SKINTED (surgery of the knee plus injury to the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve, plus traumatic eczematous dermatitis)
Risk factors:
(1) saphenous vein harvest
(2) other surgery affecting peripheral nerves
(3) trauma
Clinical features:
(1) eczematous eruptions
(2) xerosis
(3) pruritus
(4) hypoesthesia or anesthesia
(5) vasomotor changes
