Description

ASAS (Assessment of SpondyloAthritis international Society) listed criteria for the diagnosis of peripheral spondyloarthritis. The authors are from multiple institutions in Europe and Asia.


These criteria are to be used in patients with peripheral manifestations only.

 

Presenting feature - one or more of the following:

(1) arthritis

(2) enthesitis

(3) dactylitis

 

Criteria for diagnosis:

(1) one or more of the following:

(1a) psoriasis

(1b) inflammatory bowel disease

(1c) preceding infection

(1d) HLA-B27

(1e) uveitis

(1f) sacroiliitis on MRI or radiographs

(2) two or more of the following:

(2a) arthritis

(2b) enthesitis

(2c) dactylitis

(2d) inflammatory back pain (IBP) in the past

(2e) positive family history for spondyloarthritis

 

where:

• The second group of findings includes the remaining items from the list of presenting features. A finding used as a presenting feature cannot be reused in the tally.

 

Performance:

• The sensitivity is 78% and specificity 82%.
