Apoplexia uteri is hemorrhage arising in atrophic endometrium. It was more commonly reported in the past.
Features:
(1) endometrial bleeding
(2) presence of atrophic endometrium
(3) histology shows hemorrhagic necrosis of the endometrium and adjacent myometrium
(4) association with terminal status and hypoperfusion possibly with reperfusion injury
