Anton Syndrome is a rare disorder associated with bilateral occipital injury.
Synonym: Anton-Babinski Syndrome
Features of Anton syndrome:
(1) bilateral low visual acuity
(2) cortical blindness due to bilateral occipital injury (usually infarcts)
(3) lack of awareness and denial of deficit
(4) confabulated responses (visual confabulation)
(5) damage to occipital lobes seen on MRI
Conditions associated with Anton's syndrome:
(1) stroke
(2) cardiorespiratory arrest
(3) multiple sclerosis
(4) radiation-induced leukoencephalopathy
(5) hemorrhagic shock
