The American Diabetes Association has published a screening test for the American public to look for symptoms associated with diabetes mellitus.
The screening test consists of 8 statements. The first describes symptoms common in diabetes, such as excess thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and blurry vision.
Each finding is answered as yes or no, with positive responses graded from 1 to 3 points.
The American Diabetes Association urges all pregnant women to be tested for diabetes between the 24th-28th weeks of pregnancy.
