Description

The degree of impairment suffered by an individual with a hemorrhagic or platelet disorder can be estimated based on the criteria from the American Medical Association (AMA).


 

Parameters:

(1) presence of a hemorrhagic or platelet disorder (based on signs and symptoms)

(2) impact on performance of activities of daily living (ADL)

(3) treatment requirements

 

Signs and symptoms associated with a hemorrhagic or platelet disorder:

(1) excessive bruising

(2) prolonged bleeding after injury or spontaneous bleeding

(3) muscle or joint pain or swelling associated with hematoma
