AMA Criteria for Permanent Impairment Associated with Prostate Disease

Prostate disease can result in permanent impairment that can be quantified using the AMA criteria.

Potential sites of involvement:

(1) prostate

(2) seminal vesicles

Parameters:

(1) signs and symptoms

(2) anatomic alteration

(3) treatment

Signs and symptoms of prostate disorder:

(1) urinary retention

(2) incontinence

(3) pain

(4) tenderness

(5) hemospermia

(6) oligospermia

where:

• If urinary or sexual dysfunction occur, then the degree of impairment needs to be combined with the prostatic impairment.
