Disease of the aorta may result in permanent impairment for an individual. The AMA has developed criteria for determining the severity of this impairment.

mild to moderate symptoms; or at risk for recurrence of aortic disease
30 – 49%
moderate to severe symptoms despite medication; interferes with activities of daily living
moderate to severe symptoms; or high risk of recurrence of aortic disease
50 – 100%
