Description

A central neurologic disorder in the brain can affect the use of an upper extremity. The degree of impairment depends on whether the extremity involved is dominant or not and by how much function is affected.

Examples of central neurologic disorder in the brain affecting upper extremity function:

(1) traumatic brain injury

(2) stroke

(3) multiple sclerosis

(4) complication of CNS infection

(5) neurodegenerative disease (Parkinson’s disease, etc.)

Functional parameters:

(1) digital dexterity
