AMA Criteria for Impairment Associated with Sleep and Arousal Disorders

The level of impairment associated with disturbances of sleep or arousal can be estimated based on the AMA criteria.

Parameters:

(1) reduction in daytime alertness

(2) limitation in performance of activities of daily living (ADL)

moderate	somewhat limited	10 – 29%
moderate to severe	significantly limited	30 – 69%
