Sunset Yellow FCF (Coloring Agent E110) may be used to color a pharmaceutical. It has been reported to be associated with allergic reactions.
Risk factors:
(1) allergy to aspirin (salicylates)
Clinical features:
(1) allergic reaction upon exposure to E110 (rash, asthma, etc)
(2) disappearance of the allergic findings if exposure to E110 is stopped
(3) recurrence of symptoms upon re-exposure
(4) absence of allergic reaction if exposed to the same drug without E110
(5) absence of alternative explanations for the allergic reaction
