Cochran and Verrier developed an algorithm for management of a patient with tricuspid valve disease. The authors are from the Universities of Wisconsin and Washington (Seattle).
Parameters:
(1) Is the tricuspid valve dysfunction secondary to mitral valve disease?
(2) Does the patient have endocarditis involving the tricuspid valve?
(3) Can the tricuspid valve be repaired?
Management options:
(1) no treatment of tricuspid valve
(2) repair valve, which may include a localized excision of a vegetation
(3) replace valve
