Description

Brown et al reported the two-item conjoint screening (TICS) based on the 5-item conjoint screening list. This can quickly help to identify a patient in primary care who may require a more complete evaluation. The authors are from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 2

• The higher the score the greater the risk for alcohol and/or substance abuse.

 

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve was 0.72 (Lee et al).

• The sensitivity and specificity for a score >= 1: around 80%.
