Alaskapox is a rare, recently reported Orthopoxvirus first identified in Alaska.

Presumed source: zoonosis
Clinical findings:
(1) fever
(2) malaise and fatigue
(3) joint and muscle pain
(4) lymphadenopathy
(5) vesicular lesions surrounded by erythema that can become pustular
(6) neuropathic burning pain
(7) infrequent mortality
More severe disease can occur in a patient who is immunocompromised.
