AGREE-REX is a tool for assessing the quality of clinical practice guideline recommendations. The authors are from multiple institutions in Canada, Europe, the United States and Columbia.


Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation-Recommendations Excellence

 

Item 1 - Evidence:

(1) any risk of bias in  study design

(2) consistency of results in relation to results from other studies

(3) directness of the evidence to the problem

(4) precision of the results

(5) magnitude of benefits and harms

(6) risk of publication bias

(7) presence of any confounding factors

(8) the dose-response gradient if applicable

 

Item 2 - Applicability to target users' practice

(1) deals with a problem that is relevant for the intended target user.

(2) alignment between the target user's scope of practice and targeted patients or populations.

(2a) alignment with regards to recommended actions

(2b) alignment with regards to recommendations and trade-offs between harms and benefits

 

Item 3 - Applicability to patients or populations

(1) outcomes are relevant to the targeted patients or populations.

 

The 3 items are graded on 7-point scales.
