Eutylone and Ephylone are synthetic cathinones and both are included among the bath salts.
Synthetic cathinones are based on beta-ketophenethylamine.
Both may be additives to other street drugs.
The desired effect is CNS stimulation.
Adverse effects may include:
(1) tachycardia
(2) agitation
(3) confusion or delirium
(4) mydriasis
(5) hallucinations
(6) metabolic acidosis
(7) hyperthermia
(8) dehydration
(9) renal failure
(10) cardiac arrest
Severe reactions are typically seen in patients who have overdosed or patients who are also taking other stimulants like cocaine or methamphetamine.
