Fautrel et al proposed criteria for the diagnosis of adult onset Still's disease (AOSD).
Major criteria:
(1) spiking fever with temperatures >= 39°C
(2) arthralgias
(3) transient erythema
(4) pharyngitis
(5) white blood cell differential count shows >= 80% neutrophils
(6) glycosylated ferritin <= 20%
Minor criteria:
(1) white blood cell count >= 10,000 per µL
(2) maculopapular rash
Diagnosis can be made with one of the following:
(1) >= 4 major criteria
(2) 3 major criteria and 2 minor criteria
In Efthimiou et al, the age of affected patients is >= 15 years.
