Production: hydrolysis of acrylonitrile
Use: production of polyacrylamides
Source of exposures:
(1) occupational
(2) smoking (including e-cigarettes)
(30 food cooked at high temperatures (associated with the Maillard reaction)
Human absorption may occur by transcutaneous absorption, ingestion or inhalation.
Adverse effects:
(1) dermatitis after skin contact
(2) peripheral neuropathy
(3) many types of cancer
