Description

A number of conditions can cause an object to appear yellowish in color (xanthropsia).


 

Causes of xanthopsia:

(1) drugs

(2) neurasthenia (hysteria)

(3) jaundice

(4) lenticular (lens) damage

(5) aphakia

(6) poisons (aconite, aspidium, carbon disulfide, chromic acid, dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane, methyl salicylate, picric acid, santonin)

 

Yellow vision is the classic sign of digitalis intoxication.
