Description

Prochazka et al reported a simple score for evaluating elderly patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The authors are from Palacky University, Charles University, Masaryk University, and University Hospital Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic.

Patient selection: age >= 60 years with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma treated with R-CHOP

This is similar to the ABE3 score, except that it has 4 categories instead of 3.

Parameters:

(1) age (A)

(2) bulky disease (B), >= 7.5 cm in diameter

(3) ECOG performance status (E)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 3

• The pattern of the 3 parameters can also be used to separate patients into prognostic groups.

• The grade reflects the score (Grade I has a score of 1, Grade II 2, Grade III 3).
