Description

In 2016 the criteria for fibromyalgia have been revised by authors from multiple institutions in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Parameters:

(1) widespread pain index (WPI), from 0 to 19

(2) symptom severity scale (SSS) from 0 to 12

fibromyalgia severity scale =

= (WPI) + (SSS)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 31

• The higher the score the more severe the fibromyalgia.

• Fibromyalgia is usually associated with a score >= 12.

• A decrease from a higher score to < 12 is associated with clinical improvement.
