Therapy with 17-hydroxyprogesterone can prevent preterm labor in some women.
Drug: 17-alpha hydroxyprogesterone caproate
Indications:
(1) singleton gestation
(2) history of previous spontaneous preterm birth
(3) 20 to 36 6/7 weeks
Therapy is to start at 16-20 weeks and continue until week 36 or delivery (whichever comes first).
Dose: 250 mg IM per week
