Price et al developed a questionnaire to distinguish asthma from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The authors are from the University of Aberdeen.
Parameters:
(1) age in years
(2) number of smoking pack years
(3) frequency of cough in recent years
(4) breathing problems during past 3 years
(5) admission to a hospital for breathing problems
(6) frequency of shortness of breath in recent years
(7) amount of sputum produced
(8) how often a cold goes to the chest
(9) treatment to help breathing
Each item is scored from 0 (low risk for COPD) to 1/3/4/5/6/9/11 (based on risk for COPD)

= SUM(points for all 9 parameters)
