Description

Hreybe et al identified risk factors associated with cardiac arrest in a patient with an acute myocardial infarction. The authors are from the University of Pittsburgh.

Parameters:

(1) location of coronary artery occlusion

(2) cardiac rhythm on hospital admission

(3) family history of coronary artery disease

where:

• The odds ratios range from 5 to 8.

number of risk factors =

= SUM(points for all 3 factors)

Interpretation:

• minimum number of risk factors: 0

• maximum number of risk factors: 3

• The risk of cardiac arrest increases with the number of risk factors.
