Karimi et al modified the revised Baux score of Osler et al for pediatric patients with burn injury. The authors are fro Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Patient selection: pediatric patient < 15 years old with burn injury
Revised Baux score of Osler et al: see 34.07.38
Parameters:
(1) total percent of body surface area (TBSA) with significant burn
(2) age in years
(3) presence or absence of inhalation injury (1 if present, 0 if absent)
pediatric Baux score =
= (TBSA) – (age in years) + (18 * (points for inhalation injury))
Interpretation:
• minimum P-Baux score: 0
• maximum P-Baux score: 130
• The higher the P-Baux score the worse the prognosis.
