Patient selection: pediatric patient <= 15 years of age with penetrating eye injury

Parameters:

(1) age of the patient in years

(2) initial visual acuity

(3) wound location

(4) concomitant eye pathologies

= SUM(points for all of the findings present)

Interpretation:

• minimum score for first table: 30

• maximum score for the first table: 100

• minimum score for the concomitant pathologies: -100

• maximum score for the concomitant pathologies: 0

• minimum total score: -70

• maximum total score: 100

• The higher the score the better the outcome.

• A score <= 45 was associated with a poor outcome.
