Description

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has given criteria for when a transgender athlete is eligible to participate in athletic competition.


 

Criteria:

(1) The surgical gender assignment is complete, with external genitalia and gonadectomy.

(2) The assigned sex is legally recognized by the appropriate official authorities.

(3) Hormonal replacement therapy has been sufficient to remove any gender-related advantage in sport competition.

 

Criteria for hormonal therapy:

(1) appropriate for assigned sex

(2) verified administration

(3) sufficient duration
