Allen evaluated outcome after fingertip injury or amputation using 14 measures of function or cosmesis. The author is from the Leicestershire Royal Infirmary in England.


 

Objective measures:

(1) light touch

(2) pincer grip with finger

(3) joint stiffness

(4) pain sensitivity

(5) 2-point discrimination (normal 3 mm)

 

Subjective measures:

(6) tenderness

(7) cold sensitivity

(8) disability

(9) satisfaction with result

 

Cosmetic measures:

(10) pulp

(11) skin

(12) fissuring

(13) pigmentation

(14) nail growth
