Description

Patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage can be graded based on their clinical findings, both to assess the operative risk and to estimate the prognosis for the patient.


Findings

Grade

no symptoms, or minimal headache and slight nuchal rigidity

1

moderate to severe headache, no neurological deficit other than cranial nerve palsy

2

drowsy, confused or mild focal deficit

3

stupor, moderate to severe hemiparesis, possible early decerebrate rigidity, and vegetative disturbances

4

deep coma, decerebrate rigidity, moribund

5
