Scott et al used a number of grading schemes to describe embryos during their early development. One scheme involved grading embryos on Day 3 of culture. The authors are from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Embryo selection: day 3 of culture
Parameters:
(1) number of cells in the embryo
(2) percent fragmentation
(3) cell-cell contact
(4) multinucleated blastomeres
(5) blastomere size

• “Percent Fragmentation” needs to be defined.
• The percent for “grossly fragmented” in Grade 5 is not defined. >= 50% will be used in the implementation.
