Formula of Ling et al for Estimating GFR from Serum Cystatin C in a Patient After Liver Transplantation

Description

Ling et al developed an equation for estimating glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in a patient after liver transplantation using serum cystatin C. Other equations for estimating GFR from cystatin C tend to underestimate the true GFR in this population. The authors are from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.


 

Patient selection: adult during the first week after liver transplantation

 

Method for measuring GFR: 99mTc-DTPA clearance

 

Method for measuring cystatin C: N Latex CysC kit (Dade Behring)

Performance:

• The accuracy of the estimated GFR was significantly higher than other cystatin C equations.
