Description

An estimate of a child's head circumference can be made based on the body length, assuming normal development.

normal head circumference in centimeters =

= (((body length in cm) / 2) + 9.5) +/- 2.5

Limitations:

• Hydrocephalus will result in a larger than predicted head circumference.

• Some forms of short stature can have relatively normal head size.
