Tributyltin is an organic tin compound used as a fungicide for the control of mildew, an anti-fouling agent and preservative.
Risk factors associated with adverse reactions:
(1) high concentration
(2) poor ventilation
(3) use in an enclosed space (interior paint, etc)
Irritant and other toxic effects following exposure:
(1) nausea and vomiting
(2) headache
(3) burning nose
(4) conjunctivitis with watering
(5) sore throat
(6) respiratory irritation with wheezing
(7) irritation of exposed mucus membrane
(8) irritant dermatitis (contact folliculitis, contact dermatitis)
(9) corneal ulceration
(10) weakness
