Description

Entropion is an inward turning of the eyelid margin. It may affect one or both eyelids and more commonly involves the lower eyelid.


 

Clinical features:

(1) inward turning of the eyelid margin

(2) ocular irritation with a foreign body sensation

(3) corneal damage

 

Causes:

(1) congenital (present at birth)

(2) scarring (cicatricial)

(3) muscle spasm (orbicularis)

(4) involutional (none of the above present, usually with horizontal lid laxity)
